plug walk
How can this be the world ?
READ ME !
Plug walk is a collaborative map of struggles, passages and refuges.
A map is an intellectual construction, it represents the world as seen by the person who made it. It navigates between facts and desires.
One could think the best thing to do would be to get rid of all the maps, so property, states and boudaries would disapear. Or you could attack the maps with other maps.
This map tries to be polyvocal and it's not sure of its narrative. It erodes the idea of the map as a way of saying something certain about the world. Official maps says : "this is the world". Whereas this map, among others, says : "How can this be the world ?". They both can't be the world. One of them has to give. And the one that has to give is in the end the official mapped world.
The goal of this map is to help us share the places we care about. We can't protect what we don't know and we can't do it alone. You can either enter a place or a person who is present in the place you indicate. When adding a place, you will be asked to enter a corresponding contact (if possible), you can then enter a way to contact (or the name of) someone who knows this place and can be a guide there (if it's you, you can put your own contact). You can also upload an image and a short text description.
BUT REMEMBER, always make sure that you have the permission to share an information before doing so, don't share sensitive informations (exceptions applies for surveillance devices, patrol paths...to avoid them) and don't bother the living beings on location. You need to decide whether you need to map it or not. You may not. There are secrets that don’t want to be mapped. There are circumstances where maps are inappropriate.
HOWEVER, the part of the internet where this map is living isn't really crowded, in fact it's rather secluded and not referenced. The url is shared from a person (friend) to another person (friend) and there are NO PUBLIC LINK ON SOCIAL MEDIA so please respect this one rule. You can trust your friends and consider it relatively safe for an information to be shared and stored here.
We need both practical and poetical contributions. Among others, we need hideouts, passages, raspberry spots, repair workshops, viewpoints, checkpoints, refuges, water sources, places where you can find piles of strangeness, places to rest...
Other maps like this one exists, it is not exhaustive. It's about revealing access points to the persons who are able to provide more in depth indications about a place if needed, and possibly welcome you there. If you wish to meet people, you can add a ponctual presence in a place : "I will be here from ** to **".
Hopefully this creates a solidary mesh network around us and map an alternative and algorithms-free "social network".
And for starter, sharing's basic principle is...FREE
